AcknowledgementsThis website would not be possible without the support, help and friendship of so many people. Steve Atkins, my husband, who has patiently explained emacs, htmlpp, cascading style sheets, offered editorial and styling feedback and who has patiently listened to me talk about rabbit nutrition, their eating habits, and, of course their pooping habits. Susan Smith, Ph.D., professor of Nutrition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, HRS fosterer and educator, and a very good friend. Susan not only built on my nutritional knowledge, but also taught me how to explain things to non-biologists in language that could be understood. The members of the Petbunny mailing list and of alt.pets.rabbits. who have continually challenged me with more and more sophisticated questions. Their questions and the heavily researched answers have formed the core of information that this site was built around. And, last but not least, the bunnies. BunnyBear, who lived in the backyard when I was a kid. Rufus, who introduced me to the world of houserabbits. All the fosters who have entered my life and left it to find their own families. And, of course, the current group I share my home with: Bear, Flower, Tucker and Wanda. About LauraLaura has been living with bunnies most of her life starting with a big New Zeland White named BunnyBear. An Easter present from her grandparents when she was only three. Her first houserabbit, Rufus came to live with her in September of 1994. Within a year she had two other permanent bunnies and had fostered 4 other bunnies. She has been an volunteer and educator with the House Rabbit Society since mid-1995. She currently has 4 houserabbits Bear, Flower, Tucker and Wanda living with her and her husband in Northern California. Laura received her B.S. in Animal Science from Virginia Tech in 1992. She has worked in the biotech field, in government and university laboratories, since 1988.
